Well it turns out that it took almost 3 yrs for him to admit that we want different things, he does not know what he wants, and I am not ashamed to admit I want a family I do not want more children but someone who I will see every day, not just on weekends, and the odd time during the week. I think this was all spurned on my my 7 yr old daughter anouncing that she would love to have him as a step father to him and and my mother. We called it splits officialy last weekend, the pain hurts, but I should have known, I should have realised it alot sooner. I should have not been shy of asking what our future holds for us together. I feel a sucker, he is a wonderful man, but I let myself down not asking the right questions and being too polite. Oh well, I guess once I heal I will be able to move on and learn from the valuable life lesson. Putting my dreams on hold is not in the equation for any of my future relationships. Ask youf questions, it is one thing I have learned, don’t be too polite, too shy, or too much of a push over as in my case. Really would you just want to wait and wait and then come to the point I am, my heart is broken because he does not know what he wants, he has known since about 1 yr what I wanted because I was honest, but my mistake was not discussing it more in depth with him. I hope the above makes sense, as I am currenlty self medicating with red wine, lol.

Work, school, kids, etc. If at this point, you feel comfortable enough to take things further, allow him the opportunity to ask for a commitment. When you withhold special privileges from a man, he will do anything to receive favor from you including marriage , especially if he considers you to be a woman of substance.
You do this by making yourself less and less available to him, which will prompt him to take the lead. Think of relationships like a big game of chess! You study your target, plan your moves, and always keep your mate in check! Be sure not to smother one another; give each other enough room to breathe, but not enough room to leave.
Coming off as too needy or clingy early on in the relationship is a sure fire way to send a man running for the hills. Both opinions are equally important so listen carefully to the feedback they give you. Staying in a relationship that everyone around you views as unhealthy will effect the way your family views your partner, your relationship and your character from that point on if you continue on with that relationship.
Your family comes first, so if your partner has a problem with your family, then you should have a problem with him.

Sara McCorquodale suggests that women meeting strangers on dates meet initially in busy public places, share details of upcoming dates with friends or family so they know where they’ll be and who they’ll be with, avoid revealing one’s surname or address, and conducting searches on them on the Internet prior to the date.
Don’t leave drinks unattended; have an exit plan if things go badly; and ask a friend to call you on your cell phone an hour into the date to ask how it’s going.

Married to a Narcissistic Husband
If you absolutely must get married to someone to feel you’re being taken seriously, then give him an ultimatum that either you set a wedding date within the next six months or the relationship is off. Don’t settle for just getting a ring on your finger, because who knows how long the engagement will last. If you lose him, that’s sad, but you may meet another man who is ready for commitment. If you decide that the relationship you have with him is the most important thing, more important than marriage, then give up the idea of ever getting married, and never mention the topic again.

Online dating use among to year-olds has also risen substantially since the last Pew Research Center survey on the topic. Logically, you would think that it would give those in relationships the chance to bail before marrying, right?
So I’ve read quite a bit about it. Before I get into my thoughts further, it is important to note a big exception to these findings. In instances where couples cohabitate before marriage, but are already planning to marry in the near future, the likelihood of divorce does not increase due to cohabitation. There have been multiple studies done on this, and the results are always the same- there is a definite correlation between cohabitating before marriage and the likelihood of eventual divorce.
Notice I said correlation and not causation, big difference. You can look at the Rutgers website for details. They report findings of studies related to cohabitation, marriage, divorce, etc, on an annual basis. So to answer your question, it is believed because studies have shown a correlation time and time again.

Living with a person like that can be destructive and demoralizing. It can leave you feeling confused and hurt by their seemingly incomprehensible actions. Theoretically, it is possible to negotiate a relationship with a narcissistic individual; but keep in mind that most narcissists are unlikely to recognize or take responsibility for needing to adjust the current unhealthy relationship.
If you cannot leave a narcissistic person, or choose not to for whatever reason, then your only other option is to learn to cope with him. You cannot change a narcissistic person; that is almost impossible as narcissism is a deeply ingrained personality disorder. However, you can learn more effective ways to deal with your husband.
